About me
Dr. Laura Solís is a dedicated and visionary educational leader with nearly 30 years of experience in public education, including 19 years in administrative roles. She currently serves as Director II of Special Projects in Learning Support Services at Garvey School District, where she provides strategic leadership over a wide portfolio of programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing instructional quality, student achievement, and equity across the district. Leading with empathy, clarity, and purpose, she consistently centers the needs of students and families. Dr. Solís began her career as a bilingual education teacher in Pomona Unified School District, where she also served as principal, instructional coach, and central office administrator overseeing major initiatives such as a federal Social Innovation Fund grant and the district’s Community Schools pilot program, aligning academic strategies with community assets and wraparound supports. Dr. Solís holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership for Social Justice from Loyola Marymount University, where she was inducted into Alpha Sigma Nu and nominated for the prestigious Father Arrupe Award for Inclusive Excellence. Her commitment to transformative leadership is further reflected in her longstanding service with CALSA's mentoring program and its Women's Leadership network. She has fostered environments where students, staff, and families thrive—building systems that bridge academic learning with social-emotional and community supports. Dr. Solís was honored with the ACSA Region XV Charter Leadership Award in 2015 and the Reach Beyond Award from The Center for Community Engagement at Cal Poly Pomona in 2016. She remains committed to mentoring future leaders, advocating for underrepresented communities, and championing policies that drive meaningful, sustainable change in education. She is co-founder of the Sin Cuenta Podcast, which amplifies the voices of California educator leaders to elevate issues of equity and justice.
