Superintendent Elodia Ortega-Lampkin proudly leads the Woodland Joint Unified School District (WJUSD) with more than 30 years of experience in education. Her career began as a California Mini-Corps tutor and student teacher in Yolo County, and she has since served as a bilingual teacher, principal, district administrator, and superintendent.
A former migrant student and farmworker, Ortega-Lampkin is deeply committed to equity, biliteracy, and inclusive education. Her leadership focuses on rigorous academics, strong community partnerships, and support for English learners.
She has been honored with several awards, including the California Latino School Boards Association’s “Perseverance & Courage to Lead” award (2018), Congressman John Garamendi’s “Woman of the Year” award (2021), and the Sacramento Bee’s “Top 25 Latino Changemakers” recognition (2023).
