Dr. Vivian Ekchian is a nationally respected educational leader, visionary strategist, and advocate for equity and student success. With nearly four decades of experience in K-12 public education, she served as Superintendent of Glendale Unified School District, leading 25,000 students and making history as the district’s first female superintendent. Prior to that, she held senior leadership roles at Los Angeles Unified School District, including Deputy Superintendent and Interim Superintendent.
Dr. Ekchian is known for driving innovation, fostering inclusive learning environments, and building strong community partnerships. Her initiatives have expanded college and career pathways, improved student wellness, and closed opportunity gaps. A graduate of the Broad Center Fellowship at Yale School of Management, she holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from USC, along with degrees from UCLA and CSUN.
Recognized as the 2022 Los Angeles County Superintendent of the Year and a 2023 Woman of the Year by the LA County Commission for Women, Dr. Ekchian continues to mentor future leaders, teach at USC, and champion public education as a catalyst for opportunity and empowerment.
