Dr. Karling Aguilera-Fort is the Deputy Superintendent of the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD). Prior to returning to SFUSD, Dr. Aguilera-Fort served as the Superintendent of Schools for the Oxnard School District from 2019 to 2023. Dr. Aguilera-Fort also served as the Superintendent of the El Rancho Unified School District (ERUSD) from 2017 to 2019. He will return as CABE’s President for the 2025-2027 term. Hailing from Venezuela, where he worked at diverse levels in the educational system within Special Education, Dr. Aguilera-Fort was invited to teach in the Spanish Bilingual Special Education setting in SFUSD. Since the beginning of his career, he has been involved with issues of equity and social justice on behalf of the most marginalized students. He served as President of CABE from 2007 to 2010 and from 2014 to 2017. He obtained his master’s degree in educational leadership from the Graduate School of Education at UC Berkeley and earned his doctorate in Educational Leadership from the East Carolina University through the International and Global Leadership program hosted in Thailand. Dr. Aguilera-Fort brought YCP to the Oxnard School District where it continues to operate under the leadership of current Oxnard Superintendent Dr. Anabolena DeGenna.
