A Critical Time for Dual Enrollment
Friday June 27, 2025 10:00am - 11:00am PDT
California’s Dual Enrollment landscape has evolved rapidly in recent years. In the past decade we’ve seen the creation and refinement of CCAP as well as other dual enrollment programs. Supported by Governor Newsom and Chancellor Christian of the CCC, the state has made a strong commitment to embracing dual enrollment as the premier vehicle forward to further the state’s high school, college, trade, and workforce needs. Within this context, Career Ladders Project (CLP) has done extensive work on technical assistance to advance the field, while EdTrust-West (ETW) has been a strong legislative advocate to marry research with policy change. Both organizations release resources to help students, parents, practitioners, administrators, advocates, and legislative champions alike. Please join us to see how our collaborative approach particularly affects California’s Latinx community and gain tools for support at a number of levels.

What is the role of the Administrator & Teacher to Ensure a Successful Math Learning Environment?
Friday June 27, 2025 10:00am - 11:00am PDT
Rather than handing over the math, what if we invited students to wrestle with it, wonder about it, and talk their way through it? For school leaders, fostering that kind of classroom doesn’t just happen through delegation—it takes intentionality, clarity, and systems that endure even as teams evolve. This session explores how leaders can shape instructional culture by guiding teachers to ask purposeful questions that open space for student thinking, spark peer-to peer discourse, and deepen understanding—especially for English Learners. Grounded in the California Math Framework, we’ll examine what rich “math talk” sounds like and share tools to help teachers design opportunities for students to share ideas, pose observations, and make meaning together. Leaders will walk away with strategies to create simple, repeatable structures that build accountability, support instructional coherence, and set a school-wide tone where student voice, curiosity, and collaborative thinking are not just encouraged—but expected.

Relational Leadership: The Key to Capturing Kids’ Hearts
Friday June 27, 2025 11:00am - 12:00pm PDT
Leaders, teachers and students face unique challenges every day, which is why it is so important to create a campus environment that fosters safety, connection, and well-being at all levels.
We believe, “if you have a child’s heart, you have a child’s mind.” If teachers create a relational connection to students, or “Capture Kids’ Hearts ,” performance accelerates, and behaviors greatly improve because kids want to be in school. The same can be said of leadership and all staff who face challenges. When school culture is built on relationships that tend to overall well-being, it is proven that campuses, districts, and entire communities can be transformed.

Empowering Immigrant Families: A Panel on Strategic Communication, Partnerships, and Advocacy
Friday June 27, 2025 1:45pm - 2:45pm PDT
In today’s evolving landscape of shifting immigration policies and growing uncertainty, immigrant families face challenges that extend far beyond the school walls — impacting their safety, sense of belonging, and opportunity. Latino communication leaders are standing at the forefront of public education’s response, using strategic, culturally responsive communications and deep partnerships with trusted community organizations to strengthen family structures and safeguard educational access.

This panel will explore how communications can do more than inform — they can unify communities, empower families, and defend against those seeking to marginalize them. Panelists will share how some districts prepared early by building strong networks of trust, while others are developing new strategies to meet today’s urgent needs.

Together, they will highlight how resilient communication ecosystems can foster trust, uphold the dignity of every student and family, and ensure that public education remains a beacon of hope, safety, and opportunity.

Attendees will leave inspired and equipped with actionable strategies to center advocacy, resilience, and empowerment at the heart of their communication practices.

From Labels to Legacies: Honoring the Brilliance of Multilingual Learners
Friday June 27, 2025 1:45pm - 2:45pm PDT
“From Labels to Legacies: Honoring the Brilliance of Multilingual Learners” is a call to reframe how we see and support students who speak multiple languages. Rather than defining learners by what they are still acquiring, this approach celebrates the rich linguistic, cultural, and intellectual assets they already bring. It challenges educators and administrators to move beyond deficit-based labels and recognize the powerful legacies these students are building each day. This session will focus on how administrators can create intentional systems that meet multilingual learners’ goals, empower students to reclassify with confidence, and design environments that honor their brilliance. By centering asset-based practices and valuing home languages, we ensure that students are positioned to thrive academically and personally—leaving a lasting legacy for generations to come.

Latina leaders are lighting the path forward in education—transforming systems through collective strength, cultural pride, and unwavering purpose.
In this session, we will explore how to nurture and sustain Latina leadership across the full career journey, from aspiring leaders to veteran changemakers, using a strengths-based, culturally affirming mentorship approach.

Through storytelling, reflection, and action-driven strategies, participants will be invited to recognize their own light, celebrate the light in others, and commit to a leadership journey rooted in community, not competition.

We rise by lifting each other. We lead by honoring the dreams of those who came before us—and by creating space for those who will come after.

Together, Juntas Hacia la Luz, we lead for lasting impact.

Leading from the Start: Real Talk, Real Wisdom
Friday June 27, 2025 1:45pm - 2:45pm PDT
Stepping into a school or district leadership role is one of the most rewarding—and challenging—journeys in education. This dynamic session brings together the powerful voices of a first-year superintendent and an 11-year veteran to offer an honest, engaging, and inspiring look at the realities of leading in today’s educational landscape.

Attendees will hear directly from a new superintendent as he shares the highs, lows, and everything in between during his first year. He’ll reflect on navigating relationships, setting vision, responding to crises, and finding his voice as a leader. Alongside him, a seasoned superintendent will share enduring lessons from over a decade of leadership: the pivots that matter, the mistakes that shape growth, and the non-negotiables for long-term impact.
Together, they’ll provide practical advice, heartfelt encouragement, and real strategies that new and aspiring leaders can take back to their own districts.

Key Takeaways:
• First-year survival tips: what no one tells you but you need to know
• The power of mentorship and reflection in leadership development
• Strategies for building trust, vision, and culture from day one
• Long-term leadership lessons: what matters most over time
• Q&A with both leaders to dig deeper into participant questions

Whether you're a new administrator, an aspiring leader, or a mentor to others, this session will leave you informed, encouraged, and empowered.
